Code of Conduct

Be respectful

-Respect people’s opinions, beliefs, experiences and differing points of view and revise our actions when made aware that they are not in line with this goal.

-Respecting “No.” No one is obligated to dance, talk, interact with you, or explain why they said no.

-Treat everyone the way they would like to be treated.

-Respect the consent of others using good body and verbal communication, err on the side of respect.

Inappropriate behavior is unacceptable

Inappropriate behavior can lead to actions such as being required to take consent classes, paying for a chaperone, being asked to leave, or being banned. OlyDance reserves the right to refuse service to anyone if we feel it is in the community's best interest.

-Inappropriate conduct includes, but is not limited to the following:

-Harassment of any kind.

-Violation of consent or boundaries.

-Dancing in a way that could hurt others or yourself.

OlyDance strives to create a culture where we can mitigate and confront inappropriate behavior in a way that helps us all grow.

-If you do not feel safe confronting someone please talk with an organizer, front door volunteer, or designated contact person. You can always anonymously email  olympiadances@gmail.com.

-OlyDance is serious about creating a forum and container for the creation of a culture that takes everyone’s safety into consideration. In doing so we acknowledge our limitations. We cannot take responsibility for all interpersonal conflicts outside or even at our events. We can offer help, recommend outside help, and ban people, but we might not be able to solve or address all conflicts.

It's everyone's responsibility to create a fun and safe community/space.

We are open to feedback and recommendations.

We know it may seem cold to file a report like this, but it is the best way for a small business like us to keep track of problematic behavior. Documentation is so so important!
